The impact of your donation...

Sarah had been borrowing money every month from her sister to purchase food for her family. She said that when people spoke to her about going to the food bank for help, she would tell them that was for poor people and refused to go. After some persuading, Sarah started going to the food bank. Now she doesn’t have to borrow money from her sister and the family is rebuilding themselves financially.

Nancy has been raising her daughter as a single mom for about 10 years. She has been using the food bank for a quite awhile now. The food bank is helping Nancy get her daughter through college where she is studying to be an engineer. By getting food at the food bank, the pair save money that can go toward paying for college in addition to other essentials.

Your donation will help the next Sarah and Nancy.

We love when groups organize food drives for us!

This is a major source of the food we distribute. If you would like to put on a food drive we can help you by providing banana boxes. And, to see how to properly use banana boxes for collecting food, watch this video:

Stock & bond donations.

Donating appreciated stocks, bonds, mutual funds, etc., is a great way to financially support the Food Bank, while also provided a more effective tax benefit to you personally. The Food Bank receives the full value of the asset you donate, and you may avoid paying tax on any unrealized gain that you donate.

For example, if a donor paid $10,000 for an investment and it is now worth $20,000, the donor can transfer (donate) the $20,000 investment into the Marysville Community Food Bank’s investment account. The donor gets
credit for a $20,000 donation without selling the appreciated asset and
without having to pay capital gains tax on the $10,000 gain.

Please contact the Food Bank or your financial advisor for more details.
